Language Arts (Literacy) – We will be starting On My Honor as a class and will continue to learn about literary devices. Please have booklets printed and ready for Monday.
Math – We will continue to learn about fractions this week. We will be using the textbook and the workbook daily. We will have a quiz to test our knowledge on comparing and ordering fractions.

Language Arts

We will start our first novel called “On My Honor” by Marion Dane Bauer and the will learn how to work with novel’s elements and structure during our Literacy Block.


We will start a new unit on Fractions. We will be using shapes to identify quarters, halves and whole numbers.


In Science, we are going to be working with the elements of energy and its importance.

Social Studies 

We’ll be traveling to our new destination, a new unit about the Asian continent, its history and regions.

April 2nd through 6th – Spring Break week

April 9th – CLASSES Resume

April 9th – After School Clubs start

April 18th to 26th – Map Testing

April 10th & April 17th – Talent Show Auditions

April 20th – Talent Show


·       Please review your students Communication Book for the most up-to-date information on assigned homework.

·       Please read 20 minutes with your child every day! This will improve their reading skills!

·       Please help your child memorize the multiplication chart every day.

Timely Arrival – Grades 5 – 6 @ 7:15 a.m. (Note:  Any student arriving after 7:30 will be marked late.)

Timely Pick-up:  Grades 5 – 6 @ 2:30 p.m. (Note: After 2:45, students will be brought to the late room.)

A reminder that the CBS uniform must be worn every day. P.E. uniforms must also be worn, including running shoes.

We will be finishing off legends this week. We will also present our final copies of our legends to the class. Final copies must be typed and submitted by Monday, Feb 27.


We will learn different strategies for multiplying and dividing two-digit by two-digit equations. Please make sure that the multiplication chart is memorized.
